I have been practicing various forms of meditation for about 15 years. The true interest was sparked around the age of 25 when a difficult experience led me to the determination to train the mind away from constant struggling.
A lot of time has been spent trying to separate the wheat from the chaff in different methods and practises, having spent time with Tibetan Buddhism, Burmese Vipassana, and hundreds of hours of Zen philosophy.
I've always encouraged that even if you don’t like ‘this’ kind of meditation, keep looking for something that suits you. You don’t have to like every book that’s ever been written, but it’s a much better life being able to read than to be illiterate.
I've taught several short courses, unexpectedly the most successful of these being ‘Meditating Through Difficult Emotions’. As this is a skill you can take away and carry in your back pocket for the rest of your life, to be practised every day or even just when needed.
Completely online, this allowed participants to start as they mean to go on, meditating at a desk at home or on a cushion somewhere private. I still regularly goes on short peaceful retreats to ‘defrag’ the mind.
Everything I practise is based in reality and experience, and has had a measurable impact on living a joyful life. It’s allowed me the capacity to build a successful second business, confidently speak in public, compete in Brazilian Jiujitsu, study for a degree, and support others through times of bereavement.
‘Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
I regularly run an online program of 4 sessions on dealing with difficult emotions. Usually on Sunday evenings, and dependant on interest. If you're interested in joining in please let me know and I'll explain all the details.
If you feel your company could benefit from an introductory session or even an ongoing course, please get in touch with contact details and I'll be more than happy to guide a wider audience.
If you'd like to try out in person or remote therapeutic meditation, you can book in below. Please write in the notes any thoughts or theme you're struggling with, and a phone number to contact or if you'd rather visit in person.
